Victor Bauffe 26.02.1849 (Bergen, Belgium) - 12.10.1921 (The Hague, The Netherlands) Nationality: Belgian biography Victor Bauffe was born in 1849 in Bergen (Mons), Belgium. He moved to The Hague, took his training at the Academy and became a convinced follower of the Hague School. Bauffe worked in the style of his friend and mentor JH Weissenbruch, one of the great masters of the Hague School. With Weissenbruch, Bauffe often moved into the polder to paint in watercolor and oil. His best watercolors, the medium he preferred over oil, are virtually indistinguishable from those of his more famous mentor, without looking at the signature. Bauffe is a true master at painting skies, using beautiful colors. With fine shades of blue, gray and white he succeed like no other in capturing the feeling of different weather types or seasons.
