Description
"Every creature has its own 'portrait', its own expression and movement", he
asserts. Pander's subjects vary according to his interests of the moment. He is not
inclined to restrict himself to one subject.
Pieter Pander's themes include dockyards and excavation grounds, but most
especially animals and people. These are naturalistically painted, often in musing
or dream-like circumstances, usually set in half abstract areas dominated by the
surface and movement of the paint. In this way he combines traditional and
modern techniques.
